It was a cold winter day and I was on my way back home from a trip to nearby hill station. It was very foggy, misty, and wet a perfect weather for someone who is in love with nature but then I looked at my watch it was already 3:00pm and I was not even halfway home soon it will start getting dark and the road will become silent like a ghost road.
It was around 6:00pm in the evening it was already dark and I had to turn on the headlights of my car or I would also become one of many people met with an accident on this road. This road was famous for it's unknown accidents, and many rumors of strange or let's say ghostly occurrings but I was not a believer on many things and ghosts sounded like fairy tales to scare children to me.
After a few minutes I saw a man wearing a hoodie and baggy pants but it was too hard for me to see his face in this pitch black road. I stopped in front of him and asked him if he wanted a ride home because the nearest town was 20km away. There was a dead silence between both of us for 10 secs but felt like 10 hours to me and he slowly said in a deep voice to drop him near a bus station. He sat in the back of the car and it was the first time I saw his face clearly he looked like an old man in his fifties with long beard and eyes that seemed he hadn't slept for a whole week. I kept on driving to the nearest bus station which was only 8km away ignoring the dead silence lingering between both of us,I tried to make small talks but it was no use. It was around 8:30pm,we were halfway to reach the bus station but something told me in my mind to take a look at the guy behind as I moved my eyes to look in the mirror what I saw still makes me stop my heart the eyes of the guy was turned from sleepy to bloodshot eyes and blood was coming out from his mouth he suddenly look straight into my eyes and gave a smile that haunts me till this day. After that all went black,I passed out from a shock and woke up still on the road at around 12am in the morning but my car crashed and miraculously I survived I reached for my phone and dialed the emergency number the police picked up and I gave them my location as I was about to hung up the phone I saw words written on my car's window with blood "Don't pick strangers up at night, who knows what they are" my body went cold the police arrived immediately after 10 minutes from the phone call. I was taken to the hospital and got a few stitches on my leg and head the injuries were not serious but this incident haunted me till this day. What if I hadn't look at the mirror? What would have happened?. There was no clear answer but one thing I know for sure what I saw was not a person.
